On Sunday, November 8th, we will begin our Annual Stewardship Campaign. The theme this year will be “Keeping the Lights On.” We know that with the Capital Campaign “New Life in Our Lifetime—Light for the Future” sometimes we forget about the on-going everyday financial needs of the church. The Annual Stewardship pledge campaign will provide for these resources to be there day in and day out to “keep the lights on.” Thank you for your continued generosity!

SERRV CATALOGS are available to sign out for a week at a time.  One order has already been sent in and will be back by Nov. 20th.  The last order will be sent in about Nov. 23rd, and will be back before Christmas.  There will be a few SERRV items at reduced prices available at the Mission Fair on Nov. 21st.  All proceeds from our sales this year will go toward the Capital Campaign for the Building Fund.

CHURCH WORLD SERVICE and HEIFER PROJECT cards will be available at the Mission Fair, Nov. 21st, and every Sunday from then until Dec. 20th.  Church World Service blankets may be purchased for $5 each and will be sent to needy people in disaster areas around the world.  You get a card to send to a friend or relative telling them that you bought a blanket in their honor. Likewise, you may purchase a Heifer Project animal or share of an animal to help a needy family in some other country become self-sufficient for $10 or more, and receive one of their cards to send to someone you’d like to honor with your gift.  These make the perfect gift for people who have everything they need!

BERRY BOWLS will be on sale from Nov. 7th until Nov. 22nd, and all proceeds will go toward our Capital Campaign for the Building Fund.  You may purchase a bowl at the Nov. Bean Supper or the Mission Fair, or place an order with Mary L. Johnson (239-4819).

VOLUNTEER SHEETS FOR THE MISSION FAIR scheduled for November 21st will be available at Fellowship time this morning.  Please take the time to look them over - you could work at a table, bake for the food sale table, donate items for the luncheon, help set-up on Friday morning, work on Saturday or help pack up on Sunday after church.  Something for everyone!

Thank you for helping make this mission possible.

THE NEIGHBORS IN NEED OFFERING, which we will receive next Sunday 11/1, supports the UCC’s ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States. Two-thirds is used by Justice & Witness for local and national justice, advocacy and direct service projects, One-third is used to support CAIM (UCC Council for American Indian Ministries. Please give generously!

IN ZIMBABWE the government is on the verge of collapse, as President Mugabe’s party stymies efforts by the opposition party in the shared government structure in their every effort to achieve real change.  All parties signed a power-sharing deal over a year ago, and formed a so-called “unity government” but Mugabe obstinately refuses to implement several of the basic items which he signed on to.  The police, security forces, and judiciary continually harass the opposition, and violent seizures of white-owned farms continue unabated.

Next Sunday, November 1st, is All-Saints Day. During our worship service we will be honoring those people of faith in every time and place who have gone before us into eternal life. We will be using a special liturgy and candle-lighting ceremony.

As part of this observance we are asking you to bring pictures of your loved ones and friends whom you wish to honor and memorialize in this way. There will be a table set-up on the right side of the sanctuary (near the baptismal font) for the display of these photographs. Please feel free to bring as many as you wish.

Our faith reminds us that we are here in this community of faith “surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.”  Let us together honor these blessed saints this coming Sunday.
