STEWARDSHIP NEWS . . .

“You Are the Light of the World . . .” – Help Us Keep the Lights On!

As people we have been blessed with the gifts of life, and as Christians we have   been baptized into a faith that transforms! Imagine! God considers us essential to God’s Good News breaking forth in our world so that it may free the captives, lift up the poor, shelter the homeless and bring an end to war. This can happen only if people like you and I say “Yes” to God in our giving.

Consecration Sunday for our 2010 Stewardship Campaign is next Sunday December 13th.  You will have received a letter including a pledge card in the mail. Please bring that card with you next Sunday and we hope each of you will have prayerfully considered how you can support this church financially in 2010 and completed your giving card accordingly. You will then be able to help us, most literally, to “keep the lights on!”

Thank you—Your Stewardship Team: Pat Johnson, Cyndy Ryder & Mim Johnson

CHURCH WORLD SERVICE and HEIFER PROJECT CARDS will be available during

fellowship hour each Sunday from now until December 20th.  A $5 donation to Church World Service (CWS) gives you a card to send to a friend or relative saying that you bought a CWS blanket in their honor to help a poor or displaced person.  Likewise, you may have a Heifer Project card for a donation of $10, and may choose the animal you wish to help purchase so that some family may become self-sufficient.  These cards are the perfect gift for those who have everything they need!

BLANKET SUNDAY WILL BE DECEMBER 20TH

. . .ALSO, DECEMBER 20TH has been designated as “Bring A Friend to Church” Sunday

For the Fourth Sunday in Advent we will be worshipping as families. Please invite your friends and their families to attend church with you on that Sunday. A special dialogue family sermon about the true meaning of Christmas will be featured and special Christmas music will be shared by our wonderful Chancel Choir!

AND . . .on the 20th we also will be Caroling after church to our homebound folks! There will be a heartier than usual Coffee Fellowship so that we will be sustained for our journey around Winchester to share the Spirit of Christmas in song! Please plan to bring your friends AND stay for

the caroling.  FMI: Bridget Wold, CE Director, 239-6342 (O) or 336-6144 (H).

CHRISTMAS SANCTUARY MEMORIALS

You are invited to participate in beautifying our sanctuary on Christmas Eve with a poinsettia in memory or honor of a loved one. As in the past, The Ladies’ Society is coordinating this effort.

In previous years we have ordered plants from our local florist, and due to rising prices, very few plants were ordered last year.  This year we are asking you to purchase your own plant from a merchant of your choice, put your name on it, and have it at the church Thursday morning, December 24th, between 9:00am and 11:00 am.  Plants may be picked up after the Christmas Eve Service.  BUT, please fill out the order below and get it to Jackie Taylor (155 Richmond Road) or by phone (239-4284) no later than December 18th in order for it to be included in the bulletin.

JOIN US FOR “FABULOUS FAMILY FRIDAY”

HANUKKAH PARTY—DECEMBER 11th 6:30pm

This year the first night of Hanukkah falls on our Fabulous Family Friday night. We will celebrate with a Hanukkah Party. We will make Latkas (potato pancakes), light the Menorah, play dreidel, and sing Hanukkah songs. It will be a joyous celebration!

Please bring a dish to share for the pot-luck to go along with the latkas.  Please note that this will be a “dairy” meal, so please do not bring any meat dishes, or dishes with meat byproducts in them.

We hope to see you there!
